National Stadium key design plans require that "the design of the National Stadium incorporate the Olympic spirit, promote the unique traditional culture of China, and take into account peoples' needs (including people with a disability), providing a suitable environment for everyone." In considering the concept of a people-oriented structure, the stadium took into account many concerns.

People-oriented design

Planners designed the stadium so that it would satisfy the needs of everyone that would use the facility, including people with a disability, creating a people-friendly environment

1) Spectator pavilions were emphasized to allow for bettered viewing;

2) Evacuation plans were designed with safety as the highest priority;

3) Corridors and walkways were arranged for visitors' convenience;

4) Fire control mechanisms have been emphasized;

5) Computers are used to provide satisfactory room environments;

6) Acoustics systems have been fine-tuned by computer systems;

7) International décor has been promoted;

8) Both competitive and relaxing atmospheres have been adapted into the building for athletes;

9) Media needs have been accommodated;

According to international standards, designs should not merely accommodate the average individual's needs, but also take into account the universal use of the facility.

People-oriented construction

Every part of the construction of the venue was finely analyzed. Each step in the labor process took into account the Olympic idea of a people-friendly building, in the hopes of improving quality of life standards.
