Recreational Activities
A variety of activities in the Bird's Nest are to be held for visitors, among which the experiences in Waxwork Museum and Segway are the most popular ones.
The Waxwork Museum
In the west of Bird's Nest Floor One lies the Waxwork Museum for Former IOC Presidents, which exhibits the gifts Chinese people presented to the IOC during 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, the "Peace Epic of 2008".
The exhibits include wax images of eight IOC presidents (from the inaugural president to the eighth), eight Diaohua Longyi Chairs (ancient thrones with delicate sculptures, usually including Chinese dragons), and an 18-meter-long super screen with 2,008 peace doves and 2,008 peonies.
The works will be shown at the London Olympic Fine Art Exhibition in 2012 in the UK, and then forever preserved at the IOC headquarters in Lausanne, Switzerland in memory of the peace-loving efforts of Chinese people.
As written by the Olympic Museum Director Mr. Francis Gabet at the gift presentation ceremony, these stunning works have represented the highest artistic level in the world. They have brought those presidents to eternal life who had contributed to bringing Olympic to China! Please allow me to pay my tribute to the Chinese artists!
