North Block, Shanghai Xintiandi

11:00 - 24:00

A stunning new Mediterranean dining concept is the latest addition to the buzzing Xintiandi area of Shanghai. NICE, named after the beautiful coastal city of southern France, is located at North Block, Xintiandi, and is the brainchild of Executive Chef, Alexandre Molina, himself originally a native of NICE. Open for brunch, lunch, afternoon tea, dinner and drinks, the restaurant and lounge bar aims to recreate a strong Mediterranean theme through the use of light, earthy colors and natural materials. Covering a total area of 2,500 square feet, NICE has a total seating capacity of 142. Executive Chef Alexandre Molina was born in the city of NICE in the South of France, a city with a rich history.

Located on the shores of the French Riviera, he grew up with the scents and tastes of the countries surrounding the Mediterranean. Besides strong Italian and French influences, he gained his initial interest in cooking through watching his mother and Spanish grandmother creating Spanish and French favorites, and so decided at an early age to explore the culinary field. He has worked with several Michelin starred chefs in Europe, the US, and extensively around Asia including Tokyo, Singapore, and now Shanghai.

With many years of working experience in Asia, Molina has also gained an appreciation of the different tastes and scents of the continent's many exotic cuisines and ingredients, sometimes incorporating them into his creations.

"The menu at NICE Xintiandi is an exploration of the various cuisines from the Mediterranean region, covering the region of Nice of course, but also France, Europe and some parts of the Middle East and North Africa," says Molina. "We want to give everyone a chance to experience various ethnic dishes at one sitting. These dishes I learned or picked up during the many years that I worked around the world. They have given me inspiration to recreate and adapt them in my own style, and I would like to share them with my guests."Nice Xintiandi also offers classic and innovative cocktails, gives you a wonderful time.
