Niushou Mountain is a famous mountain with a long history. Located in the south suburb of Nanjing and 10 km from Zhonghua Gate, it extends along the hilly areas between the Yangtze River and the Outer Qinhuai River. With Cuiping Mountain to its north and Zutang Mountain to its south, the mountain has a unique look like the head of an ox with two horns. That is why it is called Niushou (meaning the head of an ox).

Niushou Mountain is endowed with the blessing of nature and has very beautiful natural scenery. Trees and bamboos flourish and peach flowers compete for beauty every spring in March. At dusk, twilight hides in the mist and rosy clouds rise slowly. "The mist o-n Niushou" is so attractive that people could get drunk in its beauty. The ancient tradition of visiting Niushou in spring and Qixia Temple in autumn is still unchanged.
