The Litchi Orchard Park enclosed by Liwan Road, Inner ring Road and Western Corridor, is located in the north of Big Nanshan. It has an area of 490,000 m2, which become an organic integrity with Big Nanshan Country Park (3,600,000 m2). There are sizable quantities of century-old litchis in the park (the well-known "Nanshan litchi" is yielded here). In addition to Niuqi Hollow Reservoir in the middle of the park, the park is of great value to visit.
Litchi Park, invested by Nanshan District government in 2004, is a municipal park of 510,000 m2 in circumference. According to the park-building team, the park is designed on the principle of protection, that is, to protect as many existing lichees as possible. With the theme of nature landscape, it fully reflects the local spirit and cultural intension of Nanshan. It develops into a leisure place mainly for entertainment, relaxation and fitness, where people can adequately get close to nature. It also utilizes the Niuqi Hollow Reservoir to maximally unfold the natural beauty of park waters.
The park-building team also revealed that, Litchi Park would equip four open entrances in northern entrance of Big Nanshan, beside Litingyuan Residential Quarter on Dongbin Road, in Dongbin Road Community Park at the junction of Dongbin Road and Qianhai Road, and between Prince Villa and Shanhai Villa respectively. The entire park also would widely cultivate Azaleas - the city flower of Shenzhen - along by the red line, which would shape a green fence of azalea.
