Shanghai Binjiang ForestPark (Phase I) was opened to the public on March 28th, 2007. Located in Sancha Port in Gaoqiao Town in the most north of Pudong New Area, where Huangpu River, Yangtze River, and East China Sea converged, Shanghai Binjiang Forest Park presents the unique "Convergence of Three Rivers"geographic landscape in Shanghai, and is the gateway landscape of entering Shanghai from waterway.

The programmed area of the Park is 300 hectares, while the opened area with 120 hectare is the first phase. The Binjiang coastline of this Park reaches 2 kilometers. Baoshan Paotaiwan Mountain and Beacon, near Wusong River Mouth and the other bank of Huangpu River, can be clearly seen from the Park. When it is clear, Changxi Island and Hengsha Island in Yangtze River is also easy to perceive. The Park itself possesses affluent forest resources and travel resources. Under the construction guidelines of "Nature, Ecology, and Wildlife; Protection, Innovation, and Development", 10 hectares of land is designated as whole protected area, 200,000 arbors and shrubberies and 204 types of wild plants in the original nursery are selectively protected, fully illustrating the Forest Park's wildlife and natural scenes, still retaining the original ambience of the nursery, as well as keeping the natural atmosphere and interests of natural lakes and islands, swamps and mashes, bulrushes, forests etc. An ecological system of suburban mash landscape has been basically formed in this Park, including sub-ecological artificial forest, artificial forest landscape congregation zone, and river bank mash landscape, with percentage of forest cover reaching 90%. Because the Park is located in migratory birds' zone, and the environment here is suitable for wild lives and birds' living, such as swamps, mashes, bulrushes, forests, etc., there are affluent types of amphibians and birds in this Park.

By making the best of current Begonia Forest, Magnolia Woods, the Park makes plants landscaping as the keynote, and tries its best to illustrate plants' ornamental value, forming various types of featured plants species landscapes: magnolia garden featuring magnolia category and Michelia Linn. plants; rosebush garden featuring begonia and cherry blossom; azalea garden featuring azalea category plants; wet living plants garden. In the azalea garden of nearly 7 acres, nearly 5000 plants of spring azalea, red azalea, summer azalea, rhododendron in mountainous areas, etc are planted. What's more, plenty of more green plants will be planted in this Garden, intending to create exquisite flora sceneries in the forests.

In utilizing forest resources and developing ecological traveling programs, Shanghai Binjiang Forest Park has continuously presented new activities, such as bumper cars, battery boats, double person-bicycle, traveling and sightseeing battery carts, etc, making the Park visitors enjoy the nature as well as more pleasures. The Park is also planning to opens "Family Travel", Travel" and other theme travels: families and couples can ride double person bicycles freely in the Park. The Park shall liaise with middle and primary schools for holding "spring travel", "autumn travel" and other science popularization activities, intending to lead children contact with the nature and know various types of plants. During blossom seasons, various blossom exhibitions will be held in different blossom gardens of the Park. Besides, a series of new programs are under planning stage, such as river watching telescope, tent lease, etc., so to fully extract utilizing the Park's resources, enrich the Park's interests and cultural connotation, and realize the goal that citizens visiting the Park will feel "One day is not enough for enjoying the Park"
