It is located in the east peak of Niushou Mountain. It was built in 774. It was said that it wasa built because of ganmeng, but it was destroyed later. Now the tower was rebuilt in the early Ming Dynasty. Hongjue Temple is the magnificent old tower in Nanjing, is also the oldest and biggest tower.

The height of the tower is 25m with the arch fake gate in the middle. On the both sides of the gate, there are small windows. Although the top of the tower has damaged, the body is still keeping in good condition. When you get up the tower, the scenery of the south suburb is got everything at a glace.
