Situated o­n the south foothill of Huangshan Mountain, Shuyuan Village is surrounded by mountains o­n the four sides. Since the topography is much like the szechwan basin, hence the name "Shuyuan". Shuyuan Village is a typical river side village in South China, the ancient houses are conserved well. The Kwan-yin Mountain in the access of the village is covered with peach blossom and night-blooming cereus, therefore, it got the other names "little peach blossom spring" and "Youtan Valley".

    In the history, Shuyuan Village is administrated by Sheyi District, now; it belongs to Huizhou District of Huangshan City. The whole village is composed of Qianshan, Shuyuan, Banqiaoshan, Beishanxia, Tiejiangwu, Shukou these six natural villages. People with the surname "Bao"occupied more than 80% in the village.
