Shengli (Victory) Square

   It is said Dalian was the drawing room of northern China and Shengli (Victory) Square is that of Dalian. Located in front of Dalian Railway Station, this square is surrounded by numerous shopping centers and department stores.

   If you ask anyone in Dalian for the city's most prominent landmark they without hesitation will respond, "Shengli Square". It is so recognized that it is Dalian's version of Beijing's Tiananmen Square. Located in the heart of the business district Shengli Square is well deserved as the city's main landmark, for it is always jammed with locals and sightseers. The adjacent Dalian Railway Station makes it very accessible and easy to locate. Two gigantic towers form an open-air plaza resembling a Roman colosseum. The west tower has department stores and brand name fashion boutiques, while the east tower is thronged with restaurants and pubs.
