Zhang Zizhong was a Chinese general of the National Revolutionary Army (NRA) during the Second Sino-Japanese War. Born in Linqing in Shandong province, he was the highest-ranked officer and the only Army group commander of the NRA to die in the war. He showed great valor in the battlefields and was regarded as one of the most valiant and respectable Chinese generals by the Imperial Japanese Army during the Second Sino-Japanese War. Because of his posthumous promotion, he was also one of the highest-ranked Allied officers that was killed in action in World War II. His mausoleum is situated in Beibei District, Chongqing. There are roads named after him in Shanghai, Beijing and Tianjin.


The tomb of Zhang Zhizhong is located on the Meihua Mountain, Chongqing. On 16th.May, 1940, General Zhang Zizhong died for his motherland on War of Resistance Against Japan, then his anatomy was carried back Beibei and buried on the Yutai Mountain.


The tomb is bulit near the water and it is half a circular arc form, sitting southern north. It is edged with boulder strip, built arch and cappinged with bluestone. Its height is 2.64m and perimeter is 21m and covered 3,267 square meters.
