Yuhai Anshu (Gulangyu Sunlight Rock Store) était autrefois la résidence privée de M. Zeng Shangyuan, un magnat du riz birman d'outre-mer, patriote et originaire du début du XXe siècle. Il partit pour Singapour en 1909 afin d'y gagner sa vie, puis fonda une rizerie en Birmanie et devint un important homme d'affaires chinois d'outre-mer. En 1919, il retourna dans sa ville natale avec une fortune considérable et s'installa au n° 38 de la rue Anhai, sur l'île de Gulangyu, où il fit construire plusieurs villas de style occidental. La façade du bâtiment évoque les facettes d'un diamant, d'où son nom de « Bâtiment Diamant ». Dès qu'ils pénètrent dans l'hôtel, les visiteurs échappent à l'agitation de la ville et leurs soucis quotidiens s'évanouissent. Ici, jardins et cours paisibles, ainsi que bâtiments historiques préservés, transportent les hôtes dans un passé plus lointain, où le temps semble suspendu.
