I stayed at The Rainbird in Chengdu on a Tuesday night. It was my second time to stay here and I had high hopes because of my first visit. This time I was disappointed though. First, the bellman didn't offer to help me with my luggage when I exited my taxi even though I was clearly struggling and he was doing nothing. Second, there were no instructions on which direction to insert the room card to keep the lights on and the alarm off. The LED on the card holder did not light up regardless of which way I inserted the card. Third, ROOM THERMOSTATS DON'T WORK! When I called the front desk two different people explained to me that they keep ALL the hotel rooms at the same temperature and that the room thermostats don't work. It was 75F in my room, warmer than I like to sleep at.They suggested I open my window or balcony door and I did but had to listen to the honking of cars on the busy street outside even though I was on the 7th floor. Fourth, the room walls were so thin that I could hear my neighbor's TV shows late into the night. Fifth, the Business class room I stayed in this time was MUCH plainer than the Executive class room I stayed in last time. I would have been better off choosing a cheap hotel on a quiet street.

The room is nice, big enough, and the bathroom facilities are a little old. There are many eating places around, which is more convenient. The hotel service was pretty good, friendly and professional. I'll think about it next time

I have stayed for many times. Since there is no subway until now, subway is the first choice for almost every trip to Chengdu. It is very close to Yipintianxia district. I would like to taste Chengdu cuisine and enjoy the leisurely life in Chengdu. I recommend it again
