Dongyuanyingbin Hotel is located at No.1 Shiping street, Xizhou Town, Dali. It used to be dongjiayuan, the first courtyard of Xizhou. It only takes 2-5 minutes to walk to Sifang street, Xizhou ancient town.
Its main building was built in the 1930s. It is the residence of Mr. Dong Chengnong, one of the founders of Xizhou business group. Its architecture combines the traditional 'three squares and one screen wall' and 'four in five patios' of Bai folk houses, and at the same time, it also builds French style foreign buildings, which shows the Chinese and Western architectural culture and art. Its wood is all made of catalpa, which is known as the 'king of wood'. After nearly a hundred years, the style remains the same. Because of its unique architectural art, it has been positioned as a provincial key protected cultural relic in 1987 and a national key protected cultural relic in 2001. After liberation, Mr. Dong Chengnong's descendants donated the whole courtyard to the government and kept it under the care of the army. In 1985, it was handed over to the local government for use. In 1987, the Tianzhuang Hotel, a better reception point in Dali, was rebuilt. It had received Qiao Shi, Wan Li, Li Ruihuan, Tian Jiyuan and other party and state leaders. In 2003, the municipal Party committee and government invested 20 million yuan to repair, expand and change its name to Dong Yuan in line with the principle of promoting national culture, protecting and utilizing the old as before.
It covers an area of 14000 square meters. It has a national courtyard built in 1937, a general building built in 1942, a red wine salon in Zhonghe Pavilion, a tennis hall, a centenary corridor, quiet waterscape and other themed facilities.
