Originally built to help in promoting cross-Straits understanding and to portray life in Taiwan, this folk village is a re-creation of a traditional, rural Taiwanese community. Features include a theatre where Taiwanese-themed plays are staged and an exhibition hall with displays of photographs of daily life in a traditional Taiwanese village. A manmade lake in the centre of the village is based on Taiwan's well-known 'Sun Moon Lake.' It's possible for parents to take their children on a boat ride around the lake, on a visit to the waterfalls or on a hike up Golden Mountain. You'll find an animal show and an amusement park here as well.

Taiwan Folk Village is supposed to help promote cross-straits exchanges and portray life in Taiwan. It has been built by Mr. Huang Jinshan. The whole scenery, including houses and statues, is adapted to typical Taiwanese culture. To get to know the Taiwanese better, they have got a theatre where Taiwanese related plays are shown. An exhibition hall provides further information on Taiwan by displayed photographs and texts on Taiwanese culture. Furthermore, the lake in the Taiwan Folk Village is a model of Taiwan's famous big lake: Riyue Tan (Sun Moon Lake). You can rent a boat there or just enjoy the waterfalls.

Besides that, you can watch the animal show, climb the Golden Mountain, from which you have got a beautiful view on the ocean or enjoy the amusement park. Right after the entrance, you can marvel at the butterfly house (shows specific kinds of butterflies,  that are typical for Taiwan) and take a closer look on the different stages in which butterflies develop.
