The Cat mountain national forest park is located in Taining county, Sanming city, Fujian. It is near the Gold lake Shiliping lake scenic area and a radiant pearl of the Gold lake tour line. The park has an area of 2560 hectares, the main scenic area includes gold cat mountain scenic area, Heming mountain scenic area, Huangjia lake scenic area, Ping lake scenic area. Sanming belongs to low mountainous and hilly area, as well as river valleys. The main land of the city can be divided into several types, including fluvial landform, Danxia landform, karst landform and some other trivial landforms. Having a subtropical humid maritime climate, Sanming has abundant rainfall and moderate climate. It is affected greatly by maritime monsoon. Its rainy season may last from March to September, and October to February is the dry season. The average temperature of a year is about 17-19C(63-66F).The city is favorable for visiting all the year round.

The vegetation in the forest park is luxuriant, the coverage rate of forest is 90%. The species resource is very rich, according to the cat mountain plants report, there are various wild plants, rare and precious trees including the red tree, Chinese yew, metasequaia, wuganli etc.

Looking around Cat Mountain forest park , you can see three blade-like peaks stabbing to the sky, a golden cat o­n the top of mountain overlooking the earth, a fairy peak looking for her husband. The scenery with the three different scenic spots makes it an outstanding work among the Danxia landforms.
