Pak Tai is a Taoist god of the North. Many Chinese celebrate his birthday on April 21. The couplet of the Pak Tai Temple of Taipa is as the following: "In the morning Pak Tai (the North Emperor) lives in the golden imperial palace, while at night the jade-like heaven is surrounded by stars."

The Temple of Pak Tai, built in the 24th year of Daoguang Reign (1844), is one of the biggest temple of Taipa, secondary to the Temple of Pou Tai Un.

There are altogether three palaces in the temple. The main palace is the Palace of the Pak Tai, dedicated to the Pak Tai; the two side palaces are the Palace of Hua Guang and the Palace of Kwan Tai. The Palace of Hua Guang is dedicated to the Emperor of Hua Guang and the Empress of Golden Flowers. The Palace of Kwan Tai is dedicated to Kwan Tai and the Lord in charge of Wealth.

The Pak Tai Temple is the only temple with a quadrangle pavilion as public place in Taipa. On every 8th of March of the lunar year, the birthday of North Emperor, there will be a performance of sacred battle for commemoration.
