Xiangong lake (scenic spot at provincial level) is blue and crystal-clear surrounded by grotesque rocks and peaks of different shapes. It looks like a colorful and flowery landscape picture dotted with lakeside villages, fields and forests. The vast expanse of misty and rolling lake connects with the mountains and stretches to the horizon. It doesn't have so many islands as the Thousand-Island Lake, but islands are formed one after another in the lake. With the gradual rise of the storage water level, the more "islands in the heart of the lake" will come into being. Embedded in the mountain ranges, the crystal-clear water shines like a dazzling pearl in the sun. The dimly visible pine, fur and bamboo around the lake seems the ribbon to the lake. People boating in the lake may feel like in a bright mirror. The beauty of mountains and the lake is not inferior to that of West Lake while superior in its diversification and magnificence. Over 200,000-mu mountains around the lake are covered by forests, forming a circle of nearly a hundred kilometers.

The lake surface curves with the Oujiang river course, forming many gulfs, branch streams and peaceful places for a good harbor. It is infinitely delightful to enjoy the ever-changing landscape while the boat flows down the river full of turns and twists. Where the multiplying mountains and doubling-back streams end, there seems no road beyond, while amidst shading willows cluster and shining blossoms another lake appears! The changeable weather adds intriguing fantasy to the scenery. When it's sunny, a boundless clear sky above and a vast expanse of blue water below were linked by dots of white sails moving in the middle. When it's rainy, people on the misty lake may feel like in a richly decorated jade palace on the mountain of the immortals. In particular, the region of Chishi and Longmen has wide water area and densely-distributed islands. There are also places of beautiful scenery around the lake area, such as "dragon pool eighteen crooks", "summer cave heaven", "Longlao cave", "butterfly cave" and "ox head mountain" etc.
