   Since its official opening on 27 April 1983, the Hong Kong Coliseum has established itself as one of the most popular multipurpose indoor stadium in Hong Kong for international sports events, spectacular entertainment programmes, pop concerts and conventions.

   Shaped like an inverted pyramid, the Coliseum is one of the most eye-catching landmarks on the waterfront of Hong Kong.  The imposing design was constructed from rooftop downwards which creates a maximum column-free space out of the 1 600 sq.m arena, providing an unobstructed view of the arena for over 12 500 audience.

    Adjacent to MTR Hung Hom station, the venue is easily accessible by trains and other public transport.  Since its opening, the popular Coliseum has played host to thousands of local and international conferences, performances and events. The Coliseum is the pride of the Hong Kong people, effectively meeting their demand for a world class indoor stadium that caters for international and local events.

   The arena has a seating capacity of 12 500 with 10 400 arranging in contours and some 2 000 on tiered platforms.  The arena can be adapted for end stage and central stage configurations, giving great flexibility to different types of events.  It is equipped with demountable stage units and various types of seating platforms to suit different needs.  The arena floor can be overlaid with demountable wooden flooring or other types of rubberized and court surfaces for various sporting events.

   The full colour LED video display board and scoreboard installed above the center of the arena can show close-ups, replays and track slow-motion shots of all on-going events, as well as displaying messages, scores and time keeping for sports tournaments.
