     Surrounded by a lot of towering old trees in Wushan Hill of the city, Hangzhou History Museum is located in No.18 Liangdaoshan near by City God temple and Hefangjie Qinghefang Antique Street. It covers an area of 1.3 million square meters and building area nearly 7,000 square meters. Formally opened in 2001 October 8th, the museum is a reflection of the Hangzhou city history with about 20 million tourists and visitors from all over then world every year.

     The museum exhibition hall has three floors. On the ground floor there is mainly by the exhibition hall of primitive society -the Northern and Southern Dynasties, Sui, T'ang & the Five Dynasties and the model of Grand Canal from Hangzhou to Beijing. On the second floor exhibits display the North and South Song Dynasties, Yuan-Ming-Qing Dynasties, the century-old shop of the city and a temporary exhibition hall. Special exhibition rooms such as room of paintings and calligraphy, room of stamps exhibition, etc are on the third floor. Exhibition of unearthed cultural relics excavate from the regions of Hangzhou, comprehensive and reflects on the history of Hangzhou appearance by using advanced sound, light, electricity, abundant display technology to create a visual perceptual cognition for the visitor.
