Located in northern Guangzhou, Baiyun Mountain Scenic Area is one of the first National 4A Scenic Areas. Seven scenic spots are the major attractions of the mountain, which are, from south to north: Fei E Ling (Flying Geese Ridge), Lu Hu (Lu Lake), San Tai Ling (Three Towers Ridge), Ming Chun Gu (Chirping for Spring Valley), Mo Xing Ling (Touching Sky Ridge), Ming Zhu Lou (Bright Pearl Tower), and He Yi Ling (Lotus side Ridge).  Made up of more than 30 hills, this scenic spot covers an area of 20.98 square kilometers and its highest peak, Moxing Ridge, is 382 meters high.

   Baiyun Mountain had been a famous scenic spot long before the city was established. As early as in the Warring States Period (476 BC  221 BC), it was occasionally visited by celebrities. In the Jin Dynasty (376 584 AD), it started to be known as a beautiful place to visit and in the Tang Dynasty (618  907 AD), a reputed attraction for tourists.  Such scenic spots as Jing Tai Gui Seng (Returning Monks of Jingtai Temple); Pu Jian Lian Quan (Lianquan Fountain at the Cattail Gully), Bai Yun Wan Wang (Rosy Cloud at Dusk in Baiyun Mountain), Bai Yun Song Tao(Sea of Pine Trees on Baiyun Mountain), Yun Shan Die Cui (Lush greenery on Baiyun Mountain)  have all been selected, once or more, to enter the rank of the "Ancient Top Eight Famous Sceneries in Guangzhou" since the Song Dynasty (960  1279 AD).   The changing history of Baiyun Mountain is a living epitome of the city's evolution, mirroring the historical origin of Guangzhou and Lingnan culture.

Now Baiyun Mountain proudly possesses three "national largest" The largest garden park  Yuntai Park, the largest natural "birdcage"  Mingchun Valley, as well as the largest sculpture themed park Guangzhou Sculpture Park.

Double Ninth Festival
   Double Ninth Festival Guangzhou people get used to go to a high place to pray for blessings during the Double Ninth Festival. On the 9th day of September of Chinese traditional calendar, people swarm into the Baiyun Mountain scenic area and climb up Moxing Ridge to pray for safety and happiness for their family and friends.
