All-China Federation of Trade Unions led the May 30 Strike inShanghaiand the Workers of Guangzhou and Hong Kong Strike, supporting the struggle to uniteGuangzhouand the Northern Expedition. By 1926, the whole nation workers' movement expanded vigorously under the leadership of the All-China Federation of Trade Unions -- trade unions all over China had jumped to 699, organized workers reached 1.24 million and the nation's strikes topped 200. To meet the needs of the situation, the All-China Federation of Trade Unions moved to Wuhan City in 1927.

The former site of the All-China Federation of Trade Unions was originally the Huizhou Guild Hall that became a memorial hall following some repairs. It is a three-storied, brick and wooden structure with a monument to Lian Zhongkai in the front, which was set up in May 1926, and the Monument of Martyrs who Died in the Workers' and Peasants' Movement in the center of the yard. In the middle of the first floor is an assembly hall with the rooms on both sides that served as the offices of the Guangzhou Representative Workers. Rooms located on the second and third floors were used as offices for leaders of the All-China Federation of Trade Unions and other departments.
