The highland is 203 meters in height and was named in 1904 by Japanese army during the Russo-Japanese War. It was the focus of contention between the two parties, battlefield casualties were fairly high -- Japanese 17,000 to Russians 6, 000. Nowadays at the adjoining Cemetery of Soviet Martyrs lay some bodies of them.
