Located about eight miles from the new county of Fengdu, the Snow Jade Cave is rated as China's most beautiful by Chinese National Geography.

Discovered in the mid-1990's, the cave is over 1,022 miles long. At present, it is the youngest cave discovered in China. Because of its uniqueness and beauty, it has become a popular scenic spot along the Yangtze River as well as serving as a research site for the study of caves.

The cave, a popular stop for Yangtze River cruise liners, is within a few hours drive from Chongqing city. To get to the cave entrance, you need to hike up an approximately one-kilometer-long path, which should be no problem if you go slowly.

The tourist path inside the cave stretches a distance of 1.6 km and takes one to two hours to pass through. There is a number of steps on the path, which might present difficulties for people with mobility impairments. Kjartan pointed out that the Chinese government has done an outstanding job in tourist-proofing the cave by building a good walking path inside the maze.
The temperature in the cave stays at just over 16°C. The air in the cave contains high levels of CO2, which is reputed to be good for people with nasal and pulmonary problems.
