Shijiagou Scenic Area is located in the Wulingshan County southeast of Fuling District of Chongqing with an average height of about 1,500 meters and an area of more than 30 square meters. It is in the southwest part of the famous Wuling Mountain. Mountains in the Shijiagou scenic area are steep and strange in shape, covered with lush primitive vegetations of various species. The air here is quite clear and environments here are extremely excellent. It can be match the fairyland of the Taohuayuan (a paradise on earth) in the essay written by Tao Yuanming (a famous poet and essayist in the East Jin Dynasty).

Attractions of Shijiagou Scenic Area

The tourism resources in the Shijiagou Scenic Area are very rich and mountains, forests, springs, caves, waterfalls, lakes, ponds, canyons and gorges, as well as pits can all be found here.

The five kilometer of the huge canyon in Shijiagou Scenic Area is quite majestic with grotesque stones and gurgling stream water in the bottom of the canyon.

Qingtian Gorge stretches more than 1,600 meters with the steep cliffs plugging into the blue sky.

The whole Shijiagou is 13 kilometers long, and in the 8 kilometers long underground river, there is a natural waterfall inside the cave with a head drop of 34 meters, which is quite rare in the whole China.

The majority part of the Shijiagou Scenic Area are uninhabited places, thus with various kinds of wild animals and plants, amazing landscapes of canyons and caves. Walking in the area, you can see the five peaks which are thin like paper and like the fingers of the Tathagata. Some small but exquisite scenic spots such as the Biyu (jade) Pond, Shuijing (crystal) Lake and so on can all be found here.

Shijiagou Scenic Area in Different Seasons

Shijiagou Scenic Area takes on different sights in different seasons. In spring, all the vegetations turn green, and the Shijiagou Scenic Area becomes a sea of green. In summer, the outside world is quite hot while here is very cool, thus becoming a perfect summer resort to get rid of unbearable heat. In autumn, the vegetations turn yellow and the water here gets cooler, thus it becoming an area to feel the greatness of nature and the smallness of human beings. In winter, Shijiagou Scenic Area is covered with white snow, becoming a paradise on earth.
