When society became turbulent at the end of the Ming Dynasty, and at the beginning of the Qing Dynasty, an eminent monk entitled Master Poshan, with the fame of "Lesser Sikyamini," drifted to the southwest of Liangpin County and created a tranquil temple called Shuanggui Hall or Jindai Temple.  


After several times of renovation, modern Shuanggui Hall now presents a splendid sight. The lay-out of the buildings of the temple is well-knit with a unique combination of styles. The seven-floor hall escalates gradually with wing-rooms on either side put in order one after another. The buildings look splendid in green and gold with spacious verandah and clean stairs.


The deep connotation of Shuanggui Hall lies in the perfect exchange and mix of Buddhist culture and culture of secular world. Being proficient in poems and proses and good at calligraphy, Master Poshan has a widespread reputation in art and literary circles. He left a book titled, "Poshan Quotations," in which about 1,300 poems written by him are collected. His calligraphy is of unique style. The success of his calligraphy lies in being quaint, elegant, powerful and strong, reflecting his open-mindedness and perfect sensibility.


There are many historical relics kept in Shuanggui Hall including the Peiyie Sanskrit Scripture, the tile of the Han Dynasty, and a mirror of the Tang Dynasty. The unearthed gold belt, and the Buddhist relics guarding the temple, still remain after various vicissitudes.

On the land of Chongqing, there is a forest of Buddhist temples, and deep into these temples sound of prayers is lingering in the air, bringing about people's endless thought about life.
