The number of Catholics in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Chongqing is hard to estimate but official reports state it ranges from 170,000 to 220,000 people (in 2007). St Joseph Cathedral, which is one of the main catholic churches in Chongqing, was constructed in the middle of the 19th Century.

The St Joseph cathedral is actually rather hard to find since it is now among tall buildings and covered by ivy. You can ask for the Chongqing Guest House which is not far.
