Dawei Mountain National Forest Park is located 148 kilometers from Changsha in the northeast part of Liuyang City. With its dense forest, abundant resources, beautiful scenery and pleasant climate, Dawei Mountain National Forest Park is called "the Green Pearl of Eastern Hunan."


In the park, there are twenty-three plant species, seventeen tree species and fourteen species of rare animals all under first-grade and second-grade protection by the government. With an additional 1,200 species of butterflies, the park is truly a natural animal and plant museum.


A large state forest park, it is located at Dawei Mountains Of Liuyang County in the eastern part of the province, 136 km away from Changsha City and about 108 km from the Huanghua international airport. The core of the park covers an area of 38 square km with a peripheral area of 180 square km. Its highest peak is the Seven Star Ridge, which is 1607.9 meters above sea level. It is the highest point in Changsha area. The park boasts good natural conditions and resources for tourism. A vast pastoral field covering an area of 20,000 mu of land is distributed on top of the mountain. On the side of the halfway mountain there is a stretch of primitive secondary forest covering an area of more than 50,000 mu, in which many rare species of trees of the south are preserved together with a great deal of wild animals and birds. This is the habitat of the red-billed leiothrix and the South China tigers. There are many cultural and humanistic places of interest in the park. It has been a sacred place of Buddhism in the eastern part of the province and a total of 48 temples or ruins of temples are still preserved, of which the Yuquan Temple and Honglian Temple are well known both at home and abroad. Du Guangting of the Southern Song Dy nasty in his book "The Mysterious Caves and Happy Land" said that Dawei Mountains are the thirteenth of the 36 caves (heavens) under the sun. The mountain is a combination of wonderful peaks, clear waters, quiet wood and grotesque rocks, having a total of 91 scenes and places of interest. In the summer (July), the average temperature is 23 degrees Centigrade, and it is an ideal summer resort and a good place for sightseeing and convalescence. The park is well equipped with power and communication facilities and the water resources are abundant, and now, it has been built into Dawei Mountains Tourist and Holiday Resort.
