Covering a planned area of 162.59 hectare and a floor area of 32,000 square meters, Shunyi Olympic Rowing-Canoeing Park is designated as the venue for rowing, canoeing and marathon swimming competitions of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, and also rowing events during the Beijing Paralympics.
The park measures 2,900 meters in length(south-north),330 meters wide at the northern end, and 900 meters wide at the southern end. It is divided into slalom and flatwater sections, which are located, respectively, at the southwestern and eastern parts of the park. While the former is designated for Olympic canoe / Kayak-slalom competitions, the latter is reserved for Olympic rowing, canoe / kayak (flatwater) and marathon swimming, as well as Paraympic rowing events.
