In the northern outskirts of Nanjing, outside the Guanyin (Kwanyin) City Gate, stands a low hill called Zhidu Mountain. And on the hilltop, it stands a pretty stone figure, which looks like a giant swallow that wants to expand its wings and then flies freely. The eye-catching gesture got its a gorgeous name - Yanziji (Swallow Rock).

The hill's one side sticks the southern bank of Yangtze River. It is surrounding by river water on its three other sides. The landscape seems quite sinister but it is an ideal place for viewing the great scenery of the grandiose Yangtze River. By looking to the west, you can see the rainbow-like Yangtze River Bridge. The scene is especially overwhelming when seen at a moonlit night. The bridge is accompanied by the illuminated water waves on the surface.

On the stone's top it builds an imperial stele pavilion. The stele inside is carved the three Chinese characters "Yanziji", which is the calligraphy by Qing Emperor Qianlong, with a poem written by him inscribed on the back.

The adjacent scenery of Yanziji is also great to see. Irregular cliffs are made by prolonged hit of the strong river waves. The caves and grottoes are strange and interesting. Toutai Grotto, about one kilometer away from Yanziji, is having lots of odd-shaped stalactites.
