First of all, the place is not hard to get to, especially if you have GPS. If you dont have GPS, just ring Echo and ask him to give directions to the taxi driver. From the train station it will cost just under 50RMB in a taxi (use the meter!). Secondly, for those seeking the authentic Dali experience, this is about as authentic a cultural experience as youre going to get besides actually moving to and living in Dali. The compound itself is reminiscent of the traditional compound-houses (siheyuan, 四合院) that were once the norm in many parts of China. That said, the entire place has been renovated and most of the rooms have been modernised to include the kind of facilities one would expect from what is essentially a hotel, or an Inn (客站) as these places are usually referred to in Yunnan. The rooms are actually managed by a guy called Echo (一林), while the compound doubles as a popular restaurant run by the actual owners and a hang out for the local community. As our host, Echo was fantastic. The first day we arrived he took us on a tour of the surrounding area using the Inns electric bikes, which remained free-of-charge for the duration of our stay. Throughout our stay, Echo also helped us arrange drivers and taxis to wherever else we wanted to go that the bike couldnt take us,including to Cangshan and the various places of interests dotted around the lake. If you need a driver, we recommend using this number: 13987268277. A driver for a day should cost no more than 250RMB. Overall, we highly recommend this place. (About the restaurant: this is the kind of restaurant where you choose what you like the look of from fresh ingredients and the cooks will surprise you with what they make out of it. There is no menu, but the price is fair.)

Hotel description

The Yard of Dali is located in group 3 of Xiaocen village, near the ancient city of Dali.

There is no business atmosphere. This is Xiaocen village full of life flavor. The inn is in an ancient Bai courtyard between Cangshan and Erhai in the village.

In the courtyard, watching the clouds and listening to the rain, or smelling the flowers and watching the geese. A big green tree in front of the door, dozens of meters away is such a big open garden.

Passing by the countryside is Erhai Lake. The woman shopkeeper who loves to run in the morning measures the distance of more than one kilometer every day.

There are seven rooms temporarily, not very big, not many. Antique feeling, pure wood structure and bedding. If you also like plain, natural, quiet, you should also like here.

The shopkeepers who have been traveling are young people with old souls. Spent a lot of thought and investment, just to keep the taste of the old yard.

But the hotel also does not forget that comfort and convenience are the same value of guests, modern bathroom, WiFi those are also necessary. So, there is a small bar, coffee, fruit juice, flower tea, let you feel slightly drunk fruit wine.

At night, we gather together to watch movies, ball games, drink tea, chat about life and the people and stories on the journey.

The courtyard is big, and we also have restaurants. The old Feng family has authentic Bai cuisine and Sichuan cuisine. There are always guests who come from afar for this. Also, parking is very convenient.

If you have time, you are welcome to come, stay or stay for a long time.
